Terms of Service - Karpos Reviews

1. Introduction
Welcome to Karpos Dining Guide ("Karpos," "we," "our," or "us"). By submitting reviews, you agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). Karpos Dining Guide is an independent platform dedicated to providing authentic, high-quality dining insights. Our platform operates from Spain, but our future business registration location remains subject to change. These Terms apply to all individuals contributing reviews, ensuring fairness, accuracy, and community integrity.

2. Eligibility & Account Registration
To submit reviews, you must be at least 18 years old or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction. Reviews must be submitted under your real identity or a verified account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure (if applicable) and ensuring that all submitted information is truthful and accurate. Karpos reserves the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate access if false or misleading information is provided.

3. Guidelines for Reviews
Reviews must be based on firsthand dining experiences at the respective establishment. All submissions must be honest, constructive, and free from defamatory, hateful, or otherwise unlawful content. Conflicts of interest, such as reviewing a business you own, work for, or have received compensation from, must be disclosed. Reviews that include threats, harassment, or inappropriate language will be removed and may result in account suspension. While AI can be used to help accentuate review and for formatting purposes, plagiarized or AI-generated reviews without meaningful human input are not permitted. Individuals and businesses found to have participated in bribery will be dispelled from the platform immediately and reported to local law enforcement when applicable.

We reserve the right to not accept reviews if they are unconstructive, unoriginal, or do not meet any of the other guidelines we have set for the guide. The Karpos reserves the right to moderate, edit, not show, or remove any reviews that violate these guidelines.

4. Moderation & Content Rights
By submitting a review, you agree that the rating you provide will be used and aggregated as part of a greater score. We will not share the score you provided for a specific restaurant unless you give explicit permission. We also reserve the right to balance your scores relative to your other reviews if we notice consistent patterns of skewed-ness (e.g., consistently giving 4’s or 5’s or consistently giving 1’s and 2’s).

You also grant Karpos a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to publish, display, modify, distribute, and use the content for promotional or operational purposes. However, out of courtesy and respect for you and your work, Karpos will reach out to you directly if we will feature your review in and of our material. If you do not respond to our inquiry, we may still post snippets of your review without attaching your name to it.

You retain ownership of your content but agree that Karpos is not obligated to display, distribute, or maintain it. Reviews may be edited for clarity, grammar, or compliance with content guidelines while maintaining the original intent. Karpos reserves the right to remove any content deemed in violation of these Terms without prior notice.

5. Confidentiality & Privacy
When submitting a review, Karpos may collect and store certain personal data, including but not limited to your name, email address, IP address, and review content. This data is used to verify submissions, prevent fraudulent activity, and maintain platform integrity. Personal data is stored securely using encryption, access controls, and other industry-standard security measures. While we take precautions to protect data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Karpos retains review-related personal data for as long as necessary to operate our platform or until a deletion request is made, in compliance with legal obligations. If you request deletion, your personal data will be removed, but anonymized insights from reviews may still be used for research or analysis, ensuring that no personally identifiable information is disclosed.

Reviewers acknowledge that content submitted to Karpos may be publicly accessible. Karpos does not sell personal data to third parties. However, we may share limited data with service providers who assist in the operation of our platform, under strict confidentiality agreements. If we transfer data outside the EEA, we implement appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure compliance with GDPR requirements.

6. Incentives & Rewards
Karpos may, at its sole discretion, offer incentives for submitting reviews. These incentives may include, but are not limited to, a gift in the form of a gift-card or cash gift to purchase a meal, discounts or promotional offers related to Karpos Dining Club provided through potential partners of The Karpos, and invitations to exclusive tasting events or community engagement activities.

However, Karpos does not guarantee the issuance of any rewards or incentives. Participation in the review process does not create an obligation for Karpos to provide compensation or benefits. Incentive programs are subject to change, modification, or discontinuation at any time without prior notice. If rewards are offered, additional eligibility criteria may apply, including but not limited to frequency, quality, and originality of submitted reviews, adherence to content guidelines and Terms of Service, and compliance with local laws and regulations governing promotional incentives. Karpos reserves the right to revoke rewards in cases of suspected abuse, fraudulent activity, or violation of these Terms. The judgment of the aforementioned criteria is subject to The Karpos and may be rejected without cause (although The Karpos strives to always provide reason and opportunity to redo reviews that are not abusive or fraudulent).

7. Liability & Disclaimer
The reviews provided by users reflect the personal opinions of contributors and do not represent the views or endorsements of Karpos. The Karpos will not interfere or influence the review process, and will not allow partner businesses to do so either. Karpos is not liable for disputes arising between reviewers and third parties based on content posted on our platform.

Karpos is not responsible for the accuracy, reliability, or legality of user-submitted content. While we strive for a fair and transparent review system, and will act in our best efforts to promote and enforce authenticity, we do not guarantee the accuracy or authenticity of any review posted on the platform.

8. Termination & Violations
As discussed, Karpos reserves the right to terminate, suspend, or restrict access to individuals who violate these Terms. Reviews found to be fraudulent, misleading, or otherwise in violation of our guidelines may be removed at our discretion. Reviewers may request account deletion or review removal by contacting our support team. Any progress made towards incentives or rewards will be revoked, and any review content officially published in print or digital media will remain.

9. GDPR & Data Protection
By submitting a review, you consent to Karpos processing your personal data under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent) and Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest). You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting [insert email].

All data will be processed in Spain leveraging Zoho and stored or analyzed using Google, a secure cloud-based platform. If data is transferred outside the EEA, we will implement appropriate safeguards and hire appropriate parties to help facilitate. We implement encryption, access controls, and regular audits to protect personally identifiable user data.

10. Amendments & Updates
The Karpos reserves the right to update, amend, or modify these Terms at any time. Significant changes will be communicated via platform announcements or email notifications (if applicable). Continued use of the platform after modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
